Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
Hey guys, i just got this welder from my brother in law. It stopped working on him and i wanted to try to fix it and begin to learn how to weld. It just wont feed. It doesnt try to feed. Its not getting power at the terminals. The fan is running.

Do you check the gun trigger?

I took it apart and it looked ok. Other than that i dont know how too.

Does the wheel rotate when you push the trigger?

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
You need that the wheel rotate, in order to feed the wire through the gun.
You could check the motor that rotate the wheel, if it is burn
Also chech the wire adjust potentiometer.
Check if you have enough pressure between the wheel and the wire, if not adjust the arm
The wheel that is install right now, is the correct one for the wire diameter you are using?Mauricio

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
You need a wiring diagram (download from Lincoln) and a VOM.
Then you can "investigate". Does the trigger close its control loop? Is your thermostat "open"? Does your motor have power? Et cetera
Hopefully you will find a simple inexpensive cause and not that your board is burnt

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
When this happened to my weld-pak 100, it was the trigger assembly, just not closing that gap and completing the circuit.
Not saying that is the case here, but it was with mine.

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. The Lincoln Weldpak 100 was/is a disservice to the hobby welder. Lincoln should have never stooped so low to make crap like that.
Do yourself a favor, get yourself a better made machine.

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
There is a diagram on the inside of the cover. You need to get a volt-ohm meter.
First you need to make sure the gun trigger is working. ohmmeter test.
If ok, unplug and remove cover. Clip voltmeter leads to the small terminals on the fan motor.
stand clear and plug welder back in and turn it on. Should read 24 volts ac. The large terminals will read 120 vac. The 24vac is the power supply to operate the pcb.If no 24vac the fan motor will need to be replaced. Next clip meter to pcb terminal H1 and H2.
If pcb has power and the relay on the pcb is good you should get 120vac when gun trigger is pulled. Next use the diagram on the cover to follow the weld circuit through the transformer and voltage switch. Then the weld diodes to the capacitor and weld terminals. AC voltage to the diodes and DC after that. You must have DC voltage at the weld terminals before wire drive motor will work. Weld voltage is sent up to the pcb and this voltage is controlled and sent to the motor. Wires 213 and 214 to the pcb must have 24vac for the pcb to work. Gun trigger closed. good luck

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
Where is the thermostat located on the welder. The diagram states on the sec coil but I have no clue where it is.

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
It would help with a photo of inside.
A schematic would help too.Dave

If there is no reaction at trigger pull then likely in the switch/switching circuit as the main power contactor is separate from the wire feed relay I would think.
Is there any contactor clicking and/or is it even becoming hot at the wire.

Re: Lincoln weld pak 100 wont feed wire.
I have power at tip, will arc. I replaced my torch, took board off and checked for damage, all good. Took on/off switch apart, its ok. Looked at wire speed switch, its ok. Problem is wire feed only works at initial powering on. Then it stops. I can pull the trigger and the regulator only clicks. Wire feed motor has power, I took it apart and verified it operates. I cant find anything that jumps out at me. What am I missing? My power cable is missing the center ground lug on plug end but that shouldnt stop it from welding. Any direction or help to save me from buying a new machine would be appreciated. Only use it as a hobbyist.

Ok, wire feed works for a few seconds after turned on and has sat a while. Replaced torch gun, checked circuit board, fan motor, wire feed and power switch. Not sure what else to do. Wire feed motor runs with 12 vts applied. Any other ideas for me to check?
